That's an exciting subject line, isn't it?
Ah well. Actually ....
An amendment to the Children and Families Bill, proposed by Baroness Hughes of Stretford and Baroness Jones of Whitchurch, is particularly of interest to those of us who run very early years conductive education groups for parent and children.
The new clause to be inserted after clause 78 (for the real 'keenies' who want to look it up) proposes that:
NHS trusts should make arrangements to share with local authorities records of live births to parents resident in their area, to be used by the local authority for the purposes of identifying and contacting new families through children’s centres and any other early years outreach services it may operate.
One of the real difficulties facing conductive education centres in the UK is reaching parents of young children. Potentially, this clause, if accepted and incorporated into legislation, opens up the possibility that at least for those who have good relations with their local children's centre, a much easier route to contacting parents.
