Every week, I get data from Sitemeter about 'traffic' on my blog. Today, the good people at Sitemeter tell me, quite free of charge:
Page Views
Total ....................... 27,672
Average per Day ................. 20
Average per Visit .............. 1.5
This Week ...................... 143
From the blog itself I can track in real time, visitors to the blog, using Feedjit live. That tells me where visitors are from around the world, how they came to the blog (the immediately preceeding link) and waht, if arriing via a search, what the search terms were. It also tells me which blog post was read.
For instance, a visitor from Fleet in Hampshire visited 3 times to read Why isn't Paces one of the best 100 not-for-profit organisations to work for? - Paces" I wonder why 3 times? Another recent visitor, from Shepton Mallett in Somerset visited via a google searching for "how many children are sen". My blog post "Belated farewell to Dr Sonia Sharp - heading down under to Victoria - Paces" has attracted a flurry of attention in the last 24 hours from plces as diverse as Leeds in Yorkshire and Melbourne, Australia. Puzzling that one.
But what does all this mean, really? What none of it does is to encourage visitors to leave Comments. Now that would be great. So if you are just passing through, leave a brief comment - a "quick hi" would be nice.
